Instrument Travel & Rental Information
Finalists and Junior Finalists are expected to bring their instruments with them (exclusions: pianos and percussion will be provided). If two instruments are listed on your acceptance letter, please bring both. Music stands and sheet music will be provided.
Traveling with Your Instrument:
The Honors Performance Series encourages instrumentalists to bring their own instruments to the program city. We have found that students perform their best when playing the instrument that they practice with year-round, which helps ensure the quality of the performance. If you are planning to travel with your instrument or require more information before making a final decision, you should contact your airline directly to learn their policies and procedures.
Instrument Rental:
If you are planning to rent an instrument, we strongly encourage you to do so early, since there may be a limited supply of certain instruments.
You are responsible for coordinating all instrument delivery and pick-up. Finalists, Junior Finalists, and their families will be responsible for any cartage fees and responsible for the instrument while it is in their possession and until it is picked up. Because of staff and chaperone responsibilities during the program, we cannot assist with this on-site.
Summer 2024 Programs
If renting instruments, the Series recommends families coordinate their delivery and pick-up during these time frames:
High School/Young Adult Honors Performance Series in London, England
Delivery: at the program hotel between 6:30-8pm on July 25, 2024. All performers should have their instruments by 8am the next morning for rehearsals.
Pick up: following the performance July 28, 2024 (upon return to the Series hotel). All program check-outs must be concluded by 8am on July 29, 2024.

Rental Instrument, LLC - New York City
Rental Instrument specializes in cellos, basses, strings, as well as a wide variety of high-quality instruments. When selecting your string or band instrument, they do like to speak to you and customize your rental for the concert. The owner is a cellist and very familiar with the program. Rental Instrument also offers local instrument repairs and may be able to assist with instrument repairs on-site at the Series hotel.
